Resume Tools

ResumeOS

Build, optimize, and match your resume to any job. ATS score, job matcher, bullet library, real PDF export, templates and version history, all in one HTML file in the browser.

Why I built it

Most resume tools sit in one of these buckets:

  • Overpriced subscriptions ($15 to $30 a month for something you touch twice a year).
  • Free but clunky: weird layouts, flaky PDF export, little real ATS help.
  • Local-only with no sane way to back up or move your work.

So I made one that just works for how I actually apply.

What it does

You build the resume by dragging sections from the sidebar. Click any text to edit it: name, titles, bullets, contact. Add pages if you need room. Switch between 1-column and 2-column layouts. Pick a visual style (Modern, Compact, Minimal). Your content stays the same; spacing and presentation change.

The useful bits

  • ATS score

A 0 to 100% readout from keywords, bullet quality, section coverage, and length. Open the glossary to see which words matched and which you still need.

  • Job matcher

Paste a job description. It pulls keywords and shows how much overlap you have with the resume, plus a list of missing terms to add.

  • Bullet library

300+ real achievement bullets grouped by role (software, product, marketing, sales, design, management, and more). Click + to drop one into your doc.

  • Stronger weak bullets

Flags bullets that start with phrases like "responsible for" or "helped with" and suggests stronger wording.

  • Spell check

Underlines mistakes; click for suggestions. You can add words to your own dictionary.

Get it out of the editor

  • PDF: real PDF, not print-to-PDF. Multi-page, A4 or Letter. Export strips editor chrome so it looks clean.
  • HTML: single file you can save or email.
  • Markdown: plain text version.
  • Backup JSON: full dump (templates, versions, settings) so you can move machines or keep a safe copy.
  • Named templates

Save versions like "Product manager resume" or "SWE resume" and switch between them.

  • Auto-save

Writes every 30 seconds while you edit so you do not lose a session.

  • Version history

Restore any previous snapshot from the history panel.

No cloud, no subscription

Everything runs in your browser. Data lives in localStorage. You can back up to a file and restore elsewhere. No account wall, no monthly fee: one purchase, use it as long as you want.

Sections, layouts, paper

Sections you can add

Header (name, title, contact, photo), summary, experience, education, skills, projects, languages with rating dots, certifications, awards, volunteer work, references.

Layouts

Single column (safest for strict ATS). Two column (more visual, still built to stay parser-friendly).

Visual presets

Modern (balanced spacing), Compact (fits more on one page), Minimal (teal accent, left-rail section labels).

Paper sizes

A4 for most of the world, US Letter for North America.

Setup

  • A desktop browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari). Tablets and phones work, editing is easier on a laptop.
  • One HTML file from Gumroad. Double-click to open. No server, no install. CDN fonts and libraries load on first open; after that it can work offline.
